Welcome to Simple Gentle Yoga!
Yoga is rapidly gaining popularity in the “fitness world” and even doctors are prescribing yoga to their patients.
But sometimes the word yoga can seem a little scary to people – everyone sees the “yoga pics” of people twisting themselves up like a pretzel! People tell me “I can’t do yoga, I’m not flexible” or “I can’t touch my toes”.
In Sanskrit, the word yoga means union – and it’s represented on this site as a union of body, breath and mind, meaning that your mind focuses only on the feelings inside your body and the in and out rhythm of your breath whether it’s 5 minutes or an hour. Yoga calms your mind, improves your sleep, and decreases anxiety and depression.
Yoga is also an all-natural, powerful way to re-balance tight and tense muscles in your body, improve posture, and increase flexibility.
With this blog, I hope to make yoga more accessible to those self-proclaimed inflexible people by offering modifications to common yoga poses that make them simple and easy!
This website will also help you if you don’t have access to a studio or don’t want to try yoga in front of a room full of strangers by giving you some quick and easy practices.
I would love to connect with you and find out what YOU want to know about yoga. So just click on the contact me button to submit your question, and I’ll do my best to answer for you.
